GUN POWDER

At the end of 1938, Montblanc and L'Epluga de Francolí are constantly punished by bombings, scarring the vineyards with iron and gunpowder. On its back, the Serra de Prades canyons , a natural refuge for the villages' neighbours, became also one of the pahts for the soldiers who set their walk out to France, between them, my grandfather.

pólVora is born from a vineyard of Trepat, planted in between the north face of the Serra de Prades and Montblanc village, the final stretch of the Barranc de la Pascuala passage, crossing the mountain range and ending next to an old farmhouse where soldiers were temporarily sheltered, and probably my grandfather, was too.

This wine claims a variety that years ago, was despised and almost gone, same as did many of the people who made the difficult decision to get separated from their family while set out on an uncertain path to exile.
